2025

Tromsø is European Youth Capital 2026! It may seem calm and reserved at first, but give it a try and it will reveal its magic. Close your eyes and picture this: you sip a creamy oat milk latte in a cozy downtown café as historical wooden houses are illuminated by dancing northern lights. Fjords, mountains and the sea surround you, but the combination of contemporary culture and tradition is what makes this place special. Think fishermen mingling with scientists, artists, and adventurers all in one spot. In winter, the sun never rises, and it’s all about chasing the Aurora and snuggling with reindeer stew and hot chocolate. Summer shifts to a never-ending day, where you’ll find people hiking at 2 AM or partying under the midnight sun. You may spend a day here that starts with whale watching and ends with art exhibitions.
